Building computer mostly for Photoshop, what CPU/GPU should we get?

#1Peacer WashingtonPosted 6/1/2012 9:55:51 AM(edited)
What CPU/GPU combination should I get for that? I want the computer to be capable of playing Portal 2 on at least medium settings, but if I can get better GPU performance than that for a little more money that would be good. It will probably won't be used for games, but it would be nice if it's capable a little bit. Without a hard drive, I want the total build to be around $400 to $600. Should I go for the CPU with the graphics capabilities built in?

I was thinking something a bit weaker than that.

Yeah thats fine.

For CPU get a i3 or an i5 if you can, I would also say for for 8gb of ram since its usually not much more then 4gb price wise.

I would also encourage you to do everything you can to get a Core i5 and 8 GB of RAM. More cores and more RAM is always good for Photoshop.

How big are the files you will be working with TC ? Either in pixel dimensions or megabyte.

Thanks for the help. I have one more question. Core i5 2500k or $20 more for 3570k, and what chipset should I get for the motherboard?

I was thinking this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138355
