Overclocking Ivy Bridge without voltage increase

#1CimmeriiPosted 6/1/2012 12:56:50 PM
I know Ive Bridge is still out, as well as it not having as good cooling capability of Sandy Bridge chips, but does anyone know what kind of smaller overclocks can be achieved on it without stepping up the voltage?

It depends on your individual chip.
However, odds are, the voltage is already set to be close to the lowest stable voltage your chip can handle.

Even though the game runs in 720p, it produces another 480p stream for the New Controller. That's like 1200p!

This. I got mine to 4.2 without changing the voltage at all. I can get 4.3 if I really want to, but I'd rather have the extra headroom against a BSOD than 100 MHz.

4.3 for me no voltage increase. I've gotten all the way up to 4.7 stable with 1.4v max and 90c on one of the cores. I'd probably never reach that on normal use outside of prime95 but the extra 200 mhz wasn't worth the risk. I guess I lost the cpu lottery. All well.

I idle at low 20's with one core, third one I think, at 15 to 18c according to realtemp. Onstock clocks I've gotten it as low as 10c. I would of quoted you but im on my phone sorry.
