I used to have a 600w OCZ Stealthstream but broke it when my finger slipped of power button(now turns on but doesnt boot pc)

My current one is 500w but this is bare minimum as running a Q6600 and a HD6870 but in a few weeks upgrading to an i7 so wanting 600w if not 700w minimum

I am in the UK.

I see modular ones cheap but never used them before.

Any specific price range you're looking at? If not, thee Seasonic M12II 620W modular psu is a pretty solid choice. It can run CFX/SLI easily.

I'm actually curious, why do you think you need such a high PSU? I'm running an i3 and 6870 on a 430w, and I'm sure I have plenty of headroom. Even with an overclocked i7 and that GPU, you'd go nowhere near the 600w based on tons of benchmark sites.

The ones who usually need such a high wattage are those who crossfire or SLI at least.

No specific one but around 10 per 100w should be max so 700w for 70

Mostly for some headroom, I currently use a 500w and its ok but sort of like having a much bigger HDD than I need it gives me room in future.

I just dont like having things under heavy load, much rather they have little stress as possible.

dude, i run an i5 @ 4.7ghz, 2 gtx 670s overclocked, 8 case fans, 3 ssd and 2 mechanical drives off a 650 watt psu.

You dont need anything better than that unless you are going sandy bridge e or tri sli.
