So about the Humble Bundle V

#1waffleash69Posted 6/2/2012 6:42:01 PM
I've never been one for Indie games until recently. I loved Terraria, hated Minecraft, and my brother let me try Bastion, and it was amazing. Regardless of how I feel about certain games, I do feel like it is very important to support Indie devs. I myself wanted to make a game a while ago but I felt overwhelmed, so I can only imagine what these guys and girls are going through with limited resources.

That said, I don't have much money to put towards the pack. I have about $10-15 at the moment, the rest was put back for my PC. However, I do want to keep supporting the Humble Bundles from here on out and wish to contribute whether I am interested in one game, or all.

So, my question is, should I feel bad for donating only $15 and not purchasing these full or even sale price on Steam or Amazon?

You've paid far more than average, no need to feel bad.

I paid $20 for the first HIB myself - never gone above $10 for any of the indie bundles afterwards.

Did you donate any of it to charity? If so then the developers got even LESS.... I actually had most of the games in the bundle from before the bundle and I bought it again just for the soundtracks... I think if it was really a bad deal for them they wouldn't be still doing these...surely they must be profiting.

It's kinda like how when valve started tinkering with the pricing, they found that by lowering the prices you made more money (because more people would buy) than you would by leaving the prices high and hoping to make money that way.

So taking from that lesson, they're giving DRM free copies and letting you pay what you think is fair...it's probably making them a buttload of money in the process. (Well, relative to leaving the copies at full price and hoping people don't just pirate it).

$15 is high. I'll pay up to $10 for any bundle if it has enough in it that I like, I'll barely beat the average if I think it's worth it for the bonus game(s) and I'll pay less than that if it's not worth that much to me. I won't be a $0.01'er, though. I have to feel that there's at least one game worth $1-2 or I won't even bother.

I paid $10. All of it went to devs. I have absolutely no intention of playing Amnesia or Sword and Sorcery. Maybe someday down the line. I really just wanted Bastion and Psychonauts(Limbo looked interesting). I am more than happy with my purchase. The reason I was wondering was because it seems like $10 isn't much at all, especially when developing videogames is so expensive.

But then I was completely blown away by the sales figures within just the first 15 hours, so I didn't feel so bad. I was never into Indie games before but I am now and I will continue to support these awesome developers. Thank you for the fantastic games
