Recommend me some good Full Tower Cases for under $150

#1EternalNetherPosted 6/2/2012 9:19:44 PM
I'm currently using this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196&Tpk=Coolermaster%20Storm%20Scout

I like it, but it has a fair amount of flaws. The little metal pieces on the back that slide out for your GPU and such are held in with cheap plastic. At this point half of those plastic pieces are broken and now there are holes in the back of the case. And cable management is the biggest pain in the arse because there is very little room (it's a mid tower). Also, the open grill on the plexiglass is just an open invitation for dust and bugs since I never got fans for it and there's no screen to protect it.

I'm looking for excellent cable management, lots of space, nothing overly exotic (no crazy cases with all kinds of gimmicks, just something simple that gives me lots of room to work), good airflow, and good quality materials. So far my best find is the NZXT Phantom. But I'm looking for other suggestions as well.

I must say I am vary pleased with my Antec DF-85. Has all the airflow and room you will need. The air filters on the front fans are vary nice and I have to say its a great case over all.

I use the NZXT Tempest 210. Not exactly what you're looking for, but I love it.

The Corsair Vengeance C70 was just released this month, but you have to pay $20 shipping. It's free shipping on amazon, but they are temporarily out of stock.

COOLER MASTER HAF XM is a good case if you can't wait for the Corsair Vegeance to get back on stock.

The Xion XON-980-BK is probably the best case for under $100

He was asking for a full tower.

I'd recommend an NZXT Phantom at that price range, perhaps a Switch 810 if you can find one on sale.

Here's a few others you might want to look at:

Fractal Design Define XL:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352017
(the top exhaust fan will prevent you from routing the CPU power cable through that corner)

Cooler Master HAF 932:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160
(I wouldn't even consider the Antec DF-85 when this exists)

Silverstone Raven RV-03:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163185
(interesting vertical setup)

Cooler Master Storm Trooper:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119245
(kind of similar to your case, just bigger and better)

And the NZXT Phantom:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146068
(comes in a bunch of colours, and is currently $110 with free shipping, the one I recommend)

I second most of Alle's recommendations for a full tower. the rosewill thor v2 and azza hurrican 2000 are also good options. the switch 810 is $150 at microcenter if you happen to live near one. to be honest, your real issue is the case you had. cm has alot of devoted fans and such who may attack me for saying this, but they only have 2 or 3 cases at the very outside really worth buying and you have their worst one. it's heavy and sturdy, but that's where all the good things end as you have learned the hard way. I get you want a roomy case, but you could get mid towers for the price of the storm scout or less that have way more room and functionality (better hdd installation, cable management ex. NZXT Tempest 210/410). the CM 690II Advanced, Corsair 400R, fractal define R3, NZXT H2 and Phantom 410 would all suit your needs well and are all $80-$100. there's no need to freak out and get a giant chassis. you just came from a very poor mid tower.

I love the NZXT Phantom. It's an excellent case with heaps of room and my rig runs really cool in there.

If we're going mid tower recs, I'm fond of the design on the NZXT Tempest 410 Elite, Phantom 410, Corsair Graphite 400/500r, Obsidian 550d, Bitfenix Shinobi, Fractal Design Arc Midi and Silverstone Temjin TJ-04.

Also, looking around, I just found out that Bitfenix makes an XL version of the Shinobi. I'm growing fond of Bitfenix cases... and they're cheap too!
