How do I plug THIS:

and make it work?

I've got this plugged in, but it doesn't seem to work.

I would assume through hdmi or vga if you have it. If your laptop doesn't have a function key to arrange monitors you can use windows key + p.

I have an HDMI cable and a port for it on the laptop, but I don't think there's one on the monitor. I just have that blue thing that fits right there.
