Is there a "gear check" game out right now?

#1PanzerscrapPosted 6/3/2012 1:03:29 PM
Years ago, being able to run Oblivion on high settings was indicative that your rig was pretty god. Later, the "bench check" game was Crysis. I've been out of the "tweak my PC" loop for several years now, but was wondering what games, if any, are known to be resource hogs.

Thanks!

Is Arkham City really that hard to run? I mean, it's just UE3 with a good bit of physX, right?

Steam sales. There are at least 9 every week, including mid week madness and weekend deals.

For a gear check game, the difficulty of maxing it is probably more important than just running it.

Skyrim is a decent test for your processor; running it on ultra and chilling in Whiterun will murder a lot of machines.

I just wasn't expecting the PhysX to be enough to push an Unreal Engine game to be hard to max.

I think it's tessellation and other DX11 features.

Even though the game runs in 720p, it produces another 480p stream for the New Controller. That's like 1200p!

Arkham City in DX9 is ridiculously easy to run.
