ive been wanting C2 for a hot minute but i refuse to jump on the origin ship, for any game- including bf3 :(
its funny because when Crysis 2 first launched, when it was first available on steam, i wanted to buy it but decided to wait for a sale (like i did the first 2 games) so i just added it to my wishlist. well shortly after that steam and ea had their little tiff and the game was removed from the steam catalogue, but it kept the entry in my wishlist (it linked to the store home page, as the crysis 2 store page was deleted). so there it stayed in my wishlist, a ghostly reminder haunting me daily.
who woulda known they woulda brought it back to steam? i bought it as soon as it was available.
i must say, i am quite shocked at how good the game is. its much better than i thought. the combat feels very smooth, and the UI/everything really felt extremely fluid. would like to know more bout prophet going insane though...
It was only taken down because of some way the DLC purchasing was handled that broke the agreement EA had with Steam. Now that the Maximum Edition is out, there's no need to purchase DLC, so EA is back in agreement with Steam (I paraphrased a lot).
Seems more to me, though, that EA realized that a lot of Steam users - like you and I, for instance - wouldn't make the jump to Origin just for a game. I'm sure EA lining their pocket was more important than playing the proprietary game with Steam.
I'll probably wait until the end of the month to buy Crysis 2, though. I will be surprised if it goes for anything less than 50% off.
How sad is it that you won't play EA games if they require Origin? Origin uses less resources then steam... I couldn't care less because I'm not a neurotic/paranoid person so I have no problem using it. But to actually not be able to play things like Crysis 2. Mass Effect 3, and Battlefield 3, just because you refuse to download a small client is seriously pathetic.
