MS word equivalent for Macs?

You can buy just Pages for $19.99 on the Mac App Store. It's a good word processor, and you don't have to buy Numbers and Keynote with it, although that would still only cost you $60. Office costs $100+ by comparison.

TextEdit comes with Mac OS and is free. It has no features, but you can type on it!
Otherwise, Pages for $20 is definitely a good alternative to buying Office if you just need a word processor.

There isnt a free MS word like program that comes built in? Damn these prices are so steep and they cant even include a proper word program

If you're concerned about steep prices, you could always not buy a Mac.

He probably got either a massive student discount or the college was giving them out for free like candy.

Standard Mac discount is only 100 USD.

Anyway, Office for mac is good with a student discount, Pages is good enough for most work, Scrivener is fantastic for most creative writing jobs, the basic text pad is fine for note-taking I think . .. .

Then there's logic bubble software and. . .god this'd be easier fi I knew what you wanted it for.
