Apple's resolution war is insane

#1HaRi KaRiPosted 6/27/2012 8:58:45 PM
I think Apple is pushing too hard with its pixel density obsession.

Sure it looks nice, but I'm getting the impression that the higher resolutions are outpacing market need.

Not really.

I imagine 9 out of 10 laptops still ship with a 1366x768 screen.

Yeah, we're progressing too fast! Let's slow down technological progress and use worse stuff!

I freaking love it, not because I have any of them, but because I like the fact that we have options, if you want lower resolution there's something for you, if you want insanely high resolution there's something for you, and it also means that we will soon have more and more options from other companies. I mean it's not like you HAVE to buy it, like gas :(

It would only make sense if Apple offered a smaller or lower resolution tablet that competed with Android at the $200 price point.

If they can offer a new Retina-less Macbook Pro, why not Retina-less iPad that isn't the iPad 2?

There you go, you have the option to go with the $200 android tablet if you want something retina-less and more affordable.

The ridiculousness will only get worse since Steve Jobs is dead....

He is the only used carsalesmen at apple and understands what bull**** people will be inclined to believe...

You know why they call it an Xbox 360
When you look at it, you turn 360 degrees and walk away.

It's not a bad idea, however this brings about the question of how much are the margins. After all the yields on these panels right now must be frankly atrocious.
