It's going to take time to challenge it. But essentially a user has the right to resell digital software now.

In NYC, they started making lots of things illegal, most recently . . large sodas.

In the past 5 years, 10,000 businesses have left New York and moved elsewhere.

Punishing businesses that have been a friend to the consumer, always ends up hurting the consumer.

If this begins to hurt Steam, they just won't sell there anymore. Congratulations to the idiots that shot themselves in the foot.

Actually, Steam is unaffected because you haven't purchased any games at all. You've purchased subscriptions to a service.

This strikes me as quite illogical, even if it is ostensibly consumer-friendly, which I'm all for generally.

Because there's no tangible product involved here, transfer of ownership would have to be in effect enforced and maintained by Valve themselves, presumably for no additional remuneration? That doesn't seem like it will hold up.

How does buying used digital software work? It's not like you get a beat up box or slightly scratched disc. You get it as if it was brand new. Only difference is that someone used the code once or twice

Last time I checked, it was a violation of many services ToS/ToU and it got the account banned. So uh.... unless they start creating a side service in order for people to sell their already purchased licenses -- yeah...

I believe its basically "gifting games" even after you played it.Except you charge people for it.
