There's a reason we have a Pandora's Hope, to keep pornography and sites we don't want in our home, out. Does anyone know of a filter I can put in there to let those updates through?

so wait your using a filter but you dont know how to set it up?

That's not always true. Many people buy and use tech of all sorts without knowing how. And outside of these issue it sounds like the tech has worked fine for the TC.

Also if anything a 12 year old in this era probably has a great knowledge of the tech they use.

Video games are the same as pornography.

No, I don't know it because I have been using D-Links my whole life where if a game had a problem, all I had to do was port-forwarding. I didn't think about plugging into the modem by the way lol. The way this router is set up is just stupid is the thing. They have everything completely simplified to the point where you can't do anything at all without it being their way, but it keeps pornography completely out of our house so i'm okay with that. I'm going to try plugging it straight into the modem tonight, see how that works out.

I'm not familiar with Pandora's Hope, but I'll make you a suggestion, though you may not find it very useful.
Get a regular router and use the filtering features of OpenDNS.

Obviously I think it's a good suggestion -- mainly because it's free (other than the cost of the router I guess), and you won't have any issues customizing it. It's simple, but not so stupidly simple that you can't do anything.

On the topic of your router -- I make no guarantees but it looks like it's a rebadged Buffalo router such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833162031
Buffalo has several that look the same, but I've never seen a non-Buffalo that looked like that. My point is that some Buffalo routers are compatible with DD-WRT, which is a high-quality custom firmware. You may be able to overwrite the Pandora's Hope firmware with DD-WRT so you can be rid of it, still enjoy a great router, have access to tons of advanced settings, and use OpenDNS like previously mentioned.

I don't know that you want to mess with that, but I thought I'd mention it.

See it's not actually my router, i'm visiting home for the summer at my parents and it's their router so I really can't do anything about that lol. But thank you for the suggestion! :) I just wish there was a way for me to redownload WoW lol hopefully the modem thing works.

I'm pretty sure that it's blocking ports you need, not the websites.
