#1dpeyotePosted 7/12/2012 2:54:20 PM
I post here as this is where the tech ppls are right? I just found out....see topic title...

Can someone explain what this will mean long term...other than the fact that my high-end smart phone will now not play some videos or pull up simple games now?? Thanks.

Adobe is dropping Flash support for Android, so all Android versions that are 4.1.x and beyond will not be able to use flash enabled content. Flash was never a big success on mobile devices and HTML5 is eventually going to phase out Flash anyway.

There's an Android board, BTW:

As for lack of flash...There's some work arounds. Things like the Android YouTube app, and several web browsers for Android don't NEED the flash to function, unlike how browsers on PC need flash for basically everything.

It means that content provider should switch to HTML5

It's been a while since Adobe has given up on Flash for all mobile device.
Wait... what?

Sorry, didnt know about the Android forum. Will go there if I need further tips. I guess my thing is...most went droid because of flash, now it's phasing out. This sucks. But thanks again.

I remember the arguments around Iphone Vs Android was that Iphone's didn't support flash. I wonder if half the people who were saying that actually knew what it meant?

I for one fully support Adobe's initiative to help kill flash. First Linux, now Android
