Is there a way to hide the games you're playing on Steam?

I don't see what's the problem. Last year I had Bible Black and Cosplay Fetish Academy on my Steam list, and I'd play them regularly. Just stop being embarrassed by the things you do and come out of the closet.

If anyone asks you about Recettear just tell them it's a capitalism simulator.

Don't forget to accuse them of being commies!

Works every time.

People can see games that you add to the list that aren't provided by Steam?

Yes.
It shows up as a Non-Steam game.

Yeah, I'm also interested to know what game you're so afraid of showing the world.

It can't be that bad. Some of us might even have enjoyed it thoroughly. No pants.

The only thing I don't like about the <user is playing this or that> notifications is when I am constantly getting off or on a game (cause of changing up settings or something). I feel like I am bugging my friends. lol.

Yeah, I feel the same. When modding Skyrim, for example, and I can't figure out what mods are conflicting, I feel like a bastard for constantly restarting Skyrim.

It can't be Recettear, you guys, because Recettear is awesome. TC would be asking if you could increase the font size of the game title on his friends' notifications if it was Recettear.

Only time I'd like to be able to hide my game status is when first installing a game because you sometimes have to open and close it a few times and I wouldn't want to annoy someone =P

Playing Recettear?

XD

Totally nothing wrong with this. I wish I could broadcast it on Facebook/Twitter every time I booted it up.

I definitely think this should be an option; it's not so much that anyone necessarily feels ashamed of what they're playing, but it's more just a matter of why does anyone else necessarily need to know unless we want them to?

I ran into this on the consoles a while back. My buddy was a huge Rock Band fan and so was I, but I would occasionally play Guitar Hero games as a quick diversion. Almost every time he saw me playing a Guitar Hero game he would message or text me to give me crap about it, and it was just annoying.
