Shift or Shift 2?

They're both on sale (along with a bunch of other racing games for some reason, click on the burnout paradise sale and you'll see it)

Which one is better? I'm guessing if you buy one you won't need the other, so should i just get Shift 2?

Shift 1: Crap out of the box. Acceptable--decent if you spend a bit of time modding (In my case, this took a chunk of my weekend, as I ran into some compatibility issues, and the game randomly being unstable). Although, at least the Drift option works, I guess.

Shift 2: Pretty good out of the box. A tad better than Shift 1 with extensive modding, I'd say. Some minor issues, that the Unofficial Community Patch remove (Only takes a few minutes to install). But you can completely forget the Drift events exist. Seriously, don't even try them.

Shift 2 is overall the nicer package, IMO. Less headaches to setup as well.

I liked Shift 2 better, but as Stevey said, Grid is better. Also Dirt 2/3 is MUCH more fun than NFS.

Wait to see if GRID drops to 50% or 75% tomorrow, if not, grab it during the last day.

I should go.

I am also considering shift 2 as there are no racing sims on steam at all really and I would like to play one. I played grid on the 360 when it first came out and really didn't care for it too much as the cars seemed a bit bolted to a set path and the game just felt arcadey.

Race 07 is a pretty good sim.

If you want a racing sim from Steam, you should take a look at Race07 and possibly GTR Revolution (Which is an expansion to it). Pretty nice sim racer, with a more user friendly interface than most.
