I saw one at Walmart and it looked neat. I've never used a mechanical keyboard before, are they worth the price?

i paid around a hundo for my black widow ultimate

i LOVE it, but i would not say its worth 100, i love the clicky sound, it is kind of relaxing ocd style i dont know i love hearing the keyboard, main reason i bought it was the lighting/ mechanical part

the lighting is cool but im over it, i wish it had multiple colors, the multiple settings dont do anything for me

i also wish I could find some use's for the macro hot keys but i cant, i HATE their location

i always press the macro button instead of control, its my biggest pet peeve, extremely frustrating when it happens in game

If you want a mechanical keyboard I would pass on the black widow. There are many other better options that will also allow you to pick what key switches you want. I bought a ducky shine with mx red switches and I love it, though mx reds might be too lite for others it's perfect for gaming IMO and quick typing.

that keyboard looks even more over priced than the black widow, it doesnt even have a num pad

and the design is so bland it makes me feel bored just looking at it lol

no offense..

and that's not the point of a mechanical keyboard
and Black Widow keyboards are total trash
and it's smaller so you can arrange it better on your desk
and I'm totally offended
and why am I not using sentences
or punctuation

lol

i guess razer blackwidow mechanical keyboards are trash, /thread

maybe if i cut off my num pad it will be so much easier to arrange on my desk, cuz i dont have room for a numpad on my desk that is just absurd

As someone who owns a Black Widow Ultimate, the big thing is the price. It's certainly not "superb" quality over other boards, instead trading off for backlighting and pass through ports.

I like the lighting, even though I don't *really* need it, and for some weird reason they didn't make it so the symbols/media keys were backlit. But I do use the passthrough ports pretty frequently. Other than that, it's really not all THAT bad; I mean, I'd say it's a heck of a lot better than the Logitech G15 I had before (Which I bought for $40), and carries the same/similar price tag.

And on the note of Tenkeyless boards, it's something that really bugs me amongst the "common" mechanical boards. I like having a numpad, and it doesn't make MOST boards that unreasonably large (Then again, as a former G15v1 owner, everything else seems tiny), and the trade off of losing a numpad isn't worth the 3-4" of desk space. And yes, I know you can buy separate numpads, but that isn't the point.
