We're handing the reins over to the developer with only one condition: at least some gameplay has to be free. We borrowed the free-to-play model from games like League of Legends, Team Fortress 2, Triple Town, and many others. Developers can offer a free demo with a full-game upgrade, in-game items or powers, or ask you to subscribe.

Didn't support it.

I'll buy it if it comes out.

I can't find much to be excited about. $100 for an android console when I already have my phone and hdmi out to my TV? What android-based games are worth ordering this for? Final Fantasy ports? Indie games? I would figure quite of a number of either AAA or indie games that do get an "Ouya release" would also be out for PC/PS3 so I could already play them without this extra console. What really worries me is the "ALL GAMES FREE TO PLAY" image they have up there that plenty of people will misinterpret as "everything is free, not just a demo/sample of the full game that actually costs $20".

Not to be all down on the project, I wanted to like it the first time I saw it, but I just don't see a real need for it at the moment. It would be nice to see it take off, but I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to back it right away.

Nope. A console that supports the players won't have any developers.

Came in to say this, basically. (Agree with most the rest of your post, as well)

I mean, sure, it's neat. And probably a bargain at $100 if for some reason you want an Android console, but for some suspicious reason don't have a half-modern Android smartphone. You can already use HDMI on a phone, and connect Bluetooth controllers. Oh and it's also a phone... '>_>

Just seems like *such* a niche market...I don't see the appeal.

Nope. The fact that the developers on kickstarter can keep all the money without releasing anything is the reason.
