From: KillerTruffle | #333 http://portalseven.com/employment/unemployment_rate_u6.jsp?fromYear=2005&toYear=2012 That link is suggesting unemployment rate, or rather, underemployment rate shot up right as he took office. I really don't think as soon as he took office, he killed off a bunch of jobs, do you? --- PSN - Srikar || WKC2 - Jinto My car: http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/239/71newwheels06.jpg
From: SilentHawk29 | #341 From: KillerTruffle | #333http://portalseven.com/employment/unemployment_rate_u6.jsp?fromYear=2005&toYear=2012 That link is nothing but a compilation of official government numbers. You can find those *exact* same numbers on the Department of Labor website. It's just fragmented and harder to compare (or sometimes even find - it takes some digging). All this website did is gather the official government data and put it all in one easier to read chart. If you really want a link from the DoL itself, here's one of the government pages with that data. Keep in mind this is showing the U3 - the number the government likes to tout - but look at the graph. This is the government's OWN RECORD, and you can easily see the dramatic spike at the very end of 2008, through 2009 and into 2010. The U3 might not be as accurate or useful a number, but it follows the same general trends as U6 for the most part. http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000 Looking at that chart, can you REALLY hold any shred of claim that Obama has actually improved the job market over Bush? Look at Bush's unemployment numbers, and then Obama's. Yes, over Obama's last two years, you see the slightest gradual decline, but we're still nowhere near where we were before. Again, I don't blame the increase strictly on Obama. But he hasn't worked the wonders he has claimed, and he's used a hell of a lot of number spin to make it seem better than it is. --- "How do I get rid of a Trojan Horse?" -Sailor_Kakashi "Leave it outside the gates of Troy overnight." -Davel23

I just found out from one of my cousins that there were some people at his polling place handing out fliers to black and hispanic voters which said - in English and Spanish - that "due to the long lines and wait times for voters, Obama was requesting that those supporting him come back tomorrow, Nov. 7, to cast their vote. >_> Man, I hate this shady political crap. IMO, anyone heavily in favor of Obama OR Romney has their head so far up their rear they can play tonsil hockey with themselves. I'm going to absolutely hate whoever wins (since there are only two options), but I'm gonna love when this week is over and the political bull**** dies back down. --- "How do I get rid of a Trojan Horse?" -Sailor_Kakashi "Leave it outside the gates of Troy overnight." -Davel23

Apparently CBS called the election results back on October 19 during People's Court. They put up a banner across the bottom declaring Obama the winner with 43% of the popular vote, to Romney's 40%, with 99% of precincts having reported. If tonight's results actually end up matching that, I can't imagine the hell that will break lose with claims - quite probably legitimate claims in that case - of election fraud on the highest of levels. Talk about a conspiracy theorist's dream. http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/21/cbs-news-affiliate-calls-2012-presidential-race-for-barack-obama-weeks-ahead-of-election/ --- "How do I get rid of a Trojan Horse?" -Sailor_Kakashi "Leave it outside the gates of Troy overnight." -Davel23

We're talking popular vote, not electoral college - I don't see how 43-40 would be impossible, with 17% of the popular vote going to minor parties or write-ins... --- "How do I get rid of a Trojan Horse?" -Sailor_Kakashi "Leave it outside the gates of Troy overnight." -Davel23
The electoral college is just one of the things that irritates me... Unless you're in a battleground state, your vote pretty much doesn't matter since states have taken to a 100% electoral college vote to the leading party in the state. --- GTX 560 Ti (2GB)/ z77-pro motherboard/ i5-3570k/ 8 GB RAM
From: TiamatKiller | #349 The electoral college is just one of the things that irritates me... Exactly. For instance, I live in California - possibly the bluest state in the union. Even if 49% of California voted Republican, it wouldn't make a lick of difference, and all 55 of our votes would go Democratic. Toss a third party into the mix, and it matters even less - any vote other than Democrat is swallowed up and disappears. --- "How do I get rid of a Trojan Horse?" -Sailor_Kakashi "Leave it outside the gates of Troy overnight." -Davel23 |
