Why you should vote for Obama if you care at all about internet openness.

The electoral college is just one of the things that irritates me...

Unless you're in a battleground state, your vote pretty much doesn't matter since states have taken to a 100% electoral college vote to the leading party in the state.

Of course my vote doesn't matter given that I'm in a state that isn't a battleground...however, local elections are still important.

I didn't say I didn't vote, so I'm not making an "excuse" - I said it doesn't matter. I cannot imagine any possibility of a day when California's 55 votes will go Republican. Besides, the video for "doesn't matter" was primarily relevant to swing states, and there, even one vote can absolutely matter.

Then again, I didn't want Democrat *or* Republican this time around, making my vote even less relevant. But the bottom line is, with the introduction of the electoral college, for the majority of states, your vote really *doesn't* matter. Texas will basically always be a Republican vote, and California always Democrat, and there really is nothing that can be done about it.

winning the popular vote.

Bush lost the popular vote and won the election. You must be new here. People don't elect the president.... States do.

it's possible to win the election for president and have 78% of the population vote against you.

Hence my earlier statements about how our electoral system is royally ****ed up. The electoral college is a load of BS.

I'm not new I understand how the electoral system works

I'm just saying it's the damndest thing, I didn't think romney was going to win the popular vote or that it would be this close. I'm not sure why you felt the need to jump down my throat though.
