Apparently, AMD will have no new CPUs or APUs in 2013

___ = __________

That's really bad for them. Other than their GPUs, their APUs seemed like the only things worthwhile. The thing is that Intel is catching up very quickly. Haswell's integrated graphics will be about doubled Ivy Bridge's. That basically puts it at least on par with Trinity. By the time the next APU series (Kaveri) comes out in 2014, Intel will be right behind them with Broadwell. Broadwell will have a new graphics architecture that's also likely to be another big jump in performance. Kaveri will have to do some amazing things to be competitive in any way. I wouldn't be surprised if Intel's integrated graphics surpass AMD's when Broadwell comes out.

AMD is pretty much going to become AMD Graphics.
Maybe they'll start making game consoles? I think that's about all that's left for them. Sony and AMD making consoles together.

Don't care. I haven't bought a AMD CPU since I was a poor kid many years ago.

How is the FX 8350? I'm thinking that looks a good upgrade for my pc.

Pretty bad. It'll be a small upgrade for titles like BF3 and... Well, that's pretty much it.

That's definitely where I see AMD going. It would be really sad if you think about it. AMD buys ATI just to end up being ATI again...

Yup. And Intel has 0 competition, and nickel and dimes the consumer to hell and back.

I wouldn't worry AMD will still be in business. As for Intel, they are protected by intellectual property laws such as the scpa act and the patents in semiconductors, the heart of their monopoly.

The scpa basically states that in order to compete with Intel a competitor must have a different chip design to Intel's. Which is practically impossible, Intel chip-sets are like the standard in computers, to produce a different chip topography to Intel's is almost impossible. This explains Intel's over-bloated budget. They are worth over $100 billion dollars.

People need to understand that ideas are not property rights, if I produce a microprocessor that is similar to Intel's it should be legal. The layout of an integrated circuit shouldn't be protected by a patent or an sui generis law.

I don't don't see how Intel could be allowed to be the only seller of consumer CPUs. There has to be monopoly laws that prevents that.
