I remember playing Company of Heroes a little bit several years ago. Is there an RTS available with modern day infantry, helicopters, tanks, etc.? --- Close your eyes and dream... Then open your eyes and see.

World in Conflict (Real Time Tactic game --- No base building) Command and Conquer Generals (Zero Hour (expansion) is highly recommended) Frozen Synapse (Combination of Real Time Strategy and Turn Based - ONLY infantry)
Wargame European Escalation, though I think it's technically late-Cold War period but the equipment they used then is pretty much what is still used in military forces around the world today. It's basically, instead of the Cold War ending in the late 1980's, WW3 breaks out.

Assuming you still have CoH, just download the Modern Combat mod. It replaces the factions and all of the units with modern ones. --- Asus Sabertooth z77 - Core i5 3570k - G. Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB Ram - EVGA GTX 680 - WD Caviar Black 1TB - Xion 1000W PSU

There's a game that's just simply called Warfare on Steam. http://store.steampowered.com/app/35300/
It's kind of hit-or-miss, and the budget is pretty low, especially the voice acting. Oh god, that's atrocious. I think even Men of War's voice acting is better. Regardless, it's a Middle-East modern setting kind of thing, and your troops have progression from mission to mission. There's no skirmish mode or anything, just campaign.
I would say don't get it for $20, but just keep an eye on sales or anything like that. I got it years ago from D2D when it was $5. --- http://steamcommunity.com/id/arthasreborn http://i49.tinypic.com/32znxno.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/4rrggy.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/af7sdj.jpg
