Is it possible to build a gaming pc for $800-900?

Ok made some changes how is this

Case and PSU are absolute garbage.
Also, the monitor seems a bit overpriced. 5ms, 60hz, 23", and $170? For a TN panel?

As Dark said, that psu/case combo is garbage. Also, I really don't think that a plain 3570 + H77 motherboard are worth $300. Like, at all. You're better off just going for a 3220 + motherboard and using that extra money to make sure you have a good case and power supply. The case and PSU are gonna be the things that will last a while, realistically, so you should make sure they're up to par.

Good for the most part, but I subbed out the motherboard for a better one:

Well, it's better in the sense that Z77 chipsets are able to be overclocked, so you'll have that option down the road.

That PSU is also junk. If you're determined to get a 500w, maybe you can get a CX500 for cheap, but the initial 400w Antec unit would be fine, as would a CX430.(which is probably cheaper than what you have there, and a better unit, though the antec is still better)

Here, I based this off the Asrock Z77 motherboard build.

Neo Eco 520w, USB3.0 case.
For your budget, a GTX660 might be a better fit than a 7870.

Just under budget.
