So... Are my gaming days over?

To all the super nerds here, give me your expert analysis.

I grew up in the 90s and since I had my FamiCom, I've been a gamer ever since.

In fact, I will always tell people that - not counting sex with women - I have no "vices" other than video games (I don't smoke, I occasionally drink and I would never do drugs).

Recently, however, I seem to be in a rut. The last, serious, game I played was Borderlands 2 and after finishing it, I seem to have lost my gaming genes.

I'm 24 years old and, at present, I'm on my 3rd year as a JD-MBA graduate student.

Am I getting old for video games? Am I destined to become one of those gamers who end up playing games on their smartphones, instead?

Or are games nowadays actually getting boring, repetitive, or not-the-same-as-they-used-to-be, which is the reason why I'm slowly shunning recent releases?

I wouldnt say they are over, however, i have noticed over the last few years i cant seem to play games for as long as i used to. I'm 25 now and can maybe play a game for 2-3 hours before i start to get a little bored. Back when i was younger (20 and below) i could have a HUGE gaming marathon and still not feel satisfied...maybe we are just getting old :(....or like you said, games just dont pull you in as much anymore

AAA games have about as much content as shovelware did even a few years ago.

I'm 24 and I don't see the point of playing a game if I can't get immersed in the story.

Find something you enjoy doing and do it. Maybe it's gaming, maybe it's not. You could always try going back and playing some older classics that you missed.

Its not you, its the games. Seriously today's games suck(over all there are still some gems) compared to games from the 80's and 90's. Mostly because of casualization/the devs giving the peoples(real gamers) that made them what they are the middle finger in order to get money from people(fake gamers) who used to put us down for gaming but since COD came out think that that is the one acceptable game to play so other games try to copy it and most are just as crappy.

Get the witcher 2, its an amazing game you'll like it.

Right now I would very much recommend going back and playing through a lot of games from previous generations, being easily possible with emulation and such.

games today suck, they pump out pretty graphics in exchange for a pathetic 5 hour game and expect us to get the rest of our money from multiplayer

then theres the games with on disc DLC and they expect us to pay extra $ on day 1 for goodies that should already be in the game

then theres the games that come out and expect you do buy ingame items for microtransations

gaming today is a business its all about getting as much money as possible from the gamer while giving as little as possible in return. thats why i havent bought a brand new game in almost 3 years

Games have always sucked in general, with the exception of the gems. But the gems are the only ones you choose to remember.

The 80's were so full of crappy games that the entire system crashed. So yeah..
