what resolution does it go up to? (assuming you have the 27 inch) and is there an HDMI port?

2560x1600 and no HDMI, just Dual-link DVI

It looks like they're actually 2560x1440. At least the 27" model is. I'm not sure if there is a 30" 2560x1600 model or not, though.

27" 1440p 16:9

30" 1600p 16:10

Those are the two configurations you will find.

ok, cool. I might just get an DVI to HDMI cable for this thing to plug in HDMI. HDMI gets better signal than DVI right?

No.

But it does get audio on top of video.

No. HDMI should only be used for connection to TV's. Period.

In terms of bandwidth:
DisplayPort > Dual Link DVI > HDMI > DVI (you won't find this anymore basically).

DisplayPort is the best connection you can get, particularly for multi-monitor setups as it can handle more than Dual DVI.

HDMI was designed for TV's.

decided to read through that thread a bit. Kinda dissapointing that it is not an IPS panel, and that it is 8ms response time :( Are those going to make a big difference?

IPS will just mean the best picture quality, but they're limited to 60 Hz and have higher response times than traditional panels, so some people prefer to get lower-quality panels capable of 120 Hz and low response times.

PLS panels are a subset of IPS, and probably the best one.

A good IPS panel at a reasonable price is the Asus PB278Q.
