Is the GTX 660 still a good card?

I can max all current games staying between 60 and 40 fps.

Not at 1080p you can't.

I am so tired of these kinds of comments. Yes indeed I can. I care not if you choose to believe me but I am struggling with why you think it is not possible......

EDIT: Oh I see why now, you guys who spent more for your GPU get butthurt when you find out you didn'y have to. It's the same thing everyday here on the PC boards.

The mid-range GPU's aren't meant for maxing out games. You can max console ports that are easy to run but show me you maxing out a game like Crysis 3 or Arma 3 with a GTX 660 GPU. I get 30-35 FPS maxing out Arma 3 on my rig at 1080p and 40-60 if I turn everything to very high instead of ultra.

With Sli 680's?! Really? Dude with something like that, you'd think it'd be easy too.

I'm not one to bluff. Okay guys, tell me how to prove it and I will. I never played Arama but I have Crysis 3 maxed at 1080p and my framerates are exactly as I mentioned above. I mean, I could make a video (does fraps include the fps on screen while recording?) but I'm not sure how I'd prove its running on the same system as the card. Other games I am currently maxing is GTA IV (old I know), Witcher 2 (may not be all max have to check), Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, Grid 2, Skyrim and a few others.

I honestly don't care who believes me or not but if you give me a way to prove it I'd love to shove it right in the face of some of you elitists.

Tab out, record what CPU-Z says about your system, or the Nvidia control panel, and then tab back into the game. Simple as that.

It's that you're claiming something that frankly isn't possible. A 660 is a 660. At absolute best it could match a 660 Ti, maybe 670. Neither of those cards is capable of maxing every game consistently between 40-60FPS. Either your FPS is wrong or you aren't actually maxing the games.

a 660 cant max current game.
You will run in 1080p with no AA with mostly everything maxed (depends of the games, most of the time you have to put some options down a bit) and have fps from 30 to 60 in current games

Anyone who says a 660 is maxing 'current' games at 1080p is a liar

And btw I got a 660 ti on this pc.

660 is a solid card and can perform well in 1920x1080. That it doesn't max, it runs at high settings. 7870 generally performs a bit better if you can get it for the same price.

I'd put 660 as a good $180-190 card, and 7870 as a good $190-200 card.

People just don't know what "max" is. Max means every setting at their MAX including anti aliasing. I have a GTX660, it really can't play many games at 16x AA with ultra shadows/settings etc. without slowing down substantially.

Having said that, usually above 4 or 8x AA is just not worth it, and usually I don't mind turning down shadows one notch. Then I got sick of that and ordered a 2nd one, runs pretty well, but I still can't "max" a demanding game. Getting stuff to run at 16X AA just isn't worth the price you must pay.
