Is the GTX 660 still a good card?

People just don't know what "max" is. Max means every setting at their MAX including anti aliasing.

lol good luck getting people here to understand that.. here on gfaqs, 'max' means whatever settings they need to have 60fps

I think they are saying Max settings at 60fps, I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to think max settings is 60fps.

With a 670 sc I was getting 40-45fps with it maxed out. I doubt a 660 is doing even 35. Gta4 still drops to 45 for me with my sli 670s but thats with graphic mods.

There is no way in hell a 660 maxes crysis 3. Its just not possible. I toss every setting on max and put AA at TXAAx2 (not even the highest AA) and I average between 40-60 with some drops into the mid 30's. If I put on max MSAA 8x its more like 25-35 fps.

MSI 770 w/ 4670k

I don't doubt the 660 will max alot of games that aren't super tough to max but there is just no way it maxes games like Crysis 3, Metro LL, Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider etc etc.

But its still a good card and if you can find a cheap one go for it. But if its only $50 more for the 760 go for that one.

I would take Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider off that list since those run with ease tbh.

He is saying some people think Max settings = 60 fps. I'm saying they probably mean Max settings at 60 fps.

I have 2 of em. Very satisfied with the performance. On their own they are good cards, but I'd strongly recommend getting at least 2. If your mobo won't let you or you are worried about power draw/heat, you can pick up a gtx 670 for 300 bucks or so, much better card than the gtx 660. The 680 is a ripoff imo, the 670 performs really close to it while being a **** ton cheaper.

Notice I didn't bring up the 700 series, I don't really like the 700 series, they aren't a big enough upgrade to warrant forking over the money when their 600 series equivalents (760 to 660 for example) still do pretty damn well.

I can max all current games staying between 60 and 40 fps.

Not at 1080p you can't.

I am so tired of these kinds of comments. Yes indeed I can. I care not if you choose to believe me but I am struggling with why you think it is not possible......

EDIT: Oh I see why now, you guys who spent more for your GPU get butthurt when you find out you didn'y have to. It's the same thing everyday here on the PC boards.

I'm with you on this.
I have a GTX660 and max out every game I throw at it.

The only one I've had to turn down from max settings was Metro Last Light.

I can't max tomb raider with my system. Most of the settings were on normal to get 60 frames.
