Question about DHCP clients table on my router...

#1TroutfischPosted 7/31/2013 8:15:45 PM
My PS3 was signing in slowly tonight so decided to check the DHCP Clients Table on my Linksys Router settings.

My PC, iPad, and iPhone all show up as usual (PS3 doesn't because it's wired)

However, now I see this:

"android_******bc******af"

I starred out the numbers because I'm unsure if that belongs to someone I know or something.

That being said, I take it "android" means an Android phone right or is it something else? Trying to think of what it could be because I don't want to disable something important but I'm stumped. If it's on my DHCP table does that mean it's active now, because I live in a rural area and not sure anyone else would hit my Wireless connection.

Should I delete it? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, think I figured it out.

Researched the Mac Address and found that it belonged to a Casio Mobile Device.

My father owns a Casio G'Zone Commando Android phone so that most likely explains it, but it's strange that it would be on my active list as he hasn't been around the past few days.

I deleted it from my DHCP list, and I'll be surprised if it comes back again.

Casio still exists? o_O

I had a Casio watch when I was 4. It was cheap as ****.

My friend had a Casio keyboard. It was cheap as ****.

Yeah I'm not a fan myself - he got it because it's waterproof and he works outdoors but I absolutely hate the interface.

The phone may have still had a valid DHCP lease when you looked. Most of the time DHCP leases default to 24 hours or something like that, but if your router is configured to have longer leases, it would show up in the table until the lease expired.

Oh I see - well I deleted it from the list anyways.

It appears my PS3 had a minor hiccup and having no problems now.

I use static. No DHCP setup on my network.
