Let's just say this is not the Breath of Fire I was looking forward to.

We live in a world where Time and Eternity gets a release outside of Japan and Final Fantasy Type-0 doesn't.

BoF was the poster child for by the books JRPG mediocrity until Dragon Quarter. I doubt this will have any of it's originality.

I wouldn't say mediocrity. It was B-grade. I would say it was a poor-man's Dragon Quest though.

That is both praise and criticism rolled into one.

Dragon Quarter was fantastically different though. Least deservedly maligned game ever.

Also, Chess is a game of skill much like all gameplay only video games. So it is pretty mindless if you think about it.-mtjormitch

Capcom is a joke now. Hard to believe they actually mattered at one point.

Breath of Fire IV is an A grade JRPG, easily. The rest fall somewhere in the B range. I do not have high hopes for 6.

(Also, the Tales series is the actual poster child for aggressively mediocre JRPGs.)

Breath of Fire II is decent. I'm not a fan of the series, though and I don't like the design of Dragon Quarter.
