AMD 13.8 Beta "Frame Pacing Fix" Released

#1SmoboHashPosted 8/1/2013 7:24:37 AM(edited)
Can't wait to see the review from Guru3D on these, maybe Crossfire is really improved? I'd try to benchmark a difference with my 7950 but it doesn't appear like the fix applies to single cards.

I've read this release doesn't work on Windows 8.1, but that was a solitary post on a forum and I don't know to believe it.

Where are you getting any information about what it does?

AMD has been announcing in various places that their next driver update was to address frame pacing, and their twitter account confirmed this 13.8 beta is that driver.

Anyone using crossfire should let us know how this works for them.

How to install on Windows 8.1

- Download the latest AMD Catalyst Win 8.1 Release Preview Driver.
- Extract it.
- Replace the "Drivers" folder inside "Packages" with the one that came with 13.8
- Run the setup

Will this fix stuttering and frame skipping with single GPU setups?

That was a problem present in only a handful of games and was fixed months ago. . .

I don't keep up to date with drivers, or rather I'm not looking for when new ones appear. I just wait till someone posts here. I'm using 13.4 IIRC

Yeah the single GPU stutter was fixed with 13.2. . .

Your card is "unique" in the sense that it's broken.

Good driver, running 3DMark11. No stuttering any more, GOOD JOB AMD.

I'm using HIS 7970 CFX, the program was running as smooth as silk.

But the score of 3dmark11 was slightly decreased.
