Is anyone here still on Windows XP? If so, why?

Personally I tend to jump on the latest pretty quickly, but I'd like to hear from people still using XP.

Do you still use this Athlon? What for?

I use it only because I'm unwilling to let go, it actually still runs pretty great for what it is.

I run some older games on it and some word processing things. It has a radeon x850 and 2gb of ram.

My laptop I bought in 2006 is still on XP. It's the most powerful iteration of Windows I'm willing to let it run. Not to mention in its advanced age, I can't see anything like 7 or even 8 running 'well' on it either.

For reference, this is my machine, albeit upgraded with a whole 2GB of RAM: http://www.cnet.com/laptops/compaq-presario-v5201us-15/4505-3121_7-32742183.html

XP does me fine, though I dunno if I should just switch over to Linux for ease of speed over everything else.

Simcity 4 is incompatible with Vista and greater. It will run, but crash all the time. This is because Microsoft moved some crucial directdraw calls into software with Vista and the WDDM drivers. Many other older great games like the Mechwarrior series and Longbow 2 have the same problems.

There are no suitable modern replacements for these games either, the newer games are either dumbed down, consolized, multiplayer-only, reduced in scale, or DRM-ed out, and made for 15 year old COD kids.

My sister does.
She uses music to download music and use Facebook.
She also uses her iPad more than a computer.

There really isn't any reason for her to get a new computer.

This is, simply put, wrong. I have simcity 4 that i play on my windows 7 machine perfectly fine. Never crashed. There's only one graphical issue which gets fixed through some option in the video settings.

I have an old PC I used for audio recording that still runs XP. It is the latest OS that the sound card was compatible with.
