Recommended games with interesting art direction?

I don't think it's out yet but an indie game called Apotheon has a really cool unique art style. Dark Souls is another good one (and Demons Souls ofc, but that's not on PC)

Don't know if its what you're looking for but I really like the style used in some strategy games like Civ 5 and Shogun 2. If you don't like the gameplay I suppose you're not going to get into though.

Oh if you can get your hands on a PS3 I really recommend the HD remaster of Okami. In my mind that's the most beautiful game ever made :P

On PC? There... sadly... really aren't all that many.

I would say Don't Starve is probably the most interesting/good, but I would point to console games like Valkyria Chornicles (water-color cel-shading), Okami (Japanese ink-painting style cel-shading), Shadow of the Collosus, Ico, Dark Souls, The Wind Waker, Dragon Quest VIII, or even 3D Dot Game Heroes.

Oh, and come to think of it... on the PC, I'd have to say the best option is probably Dark Souls. It has some truly fantastic art design.

You should definitely check out The Void.

Rayman Origins is also a pretty sweet 2D platforming game with some pretty colorful and original artwork.

I can't believe I didn't think of that

It's my favorite game by far.

Kentucky Route Zero, you really have to see it in motion as you play through it. The game has this very different art style and an very surreal almost David Lynch like tone.

Just read/watched about Betrayer, upcoming game from makers of NOLF and FEAR. Definitely has a different artistic direction...

Yes, the only game that makes me physically nauseous. Having a stark white screen be continuously projected into your eyeballs is not good art direction.

I came in here to suggest Dishonored though. A lot of people give the game crap for it's poor textures but I think it looks amazing.
