help with Quake weapon switching

I cannot figure out how to bind weapon scrolling with the mouse wheel. Not just change the weapon but make it scroll back and forth. I searched google and can't find solid answers. Hoping someone here would know.

try
bind mwheelup "impulse 10"
bind mwheeldown "impulse 9"

I've been that but where do I place it? I put it in the cfg but it did not work

Just type it in at the console, press ` to bring it up.

No, just type it as it is. I tried it on mine and it worked fine.

it worked but the weapon doesn't scroll back and forth. they just cycle. and I can't set the resolution

For GlQuake you have to set the resolution as a commandline argument, ie -width 1024 -height 768.

Of course the best thing to do really would be use a modern source port like this
