Didn't like Deus Ex: Human Revolution

#11Binba442Posted 8/3/2013 1:13:33 PM
I disliked it... Deus ex 1 was better. This isn't nostalgia talking. I played it last year for the first time.

"But the graphics!" No, the graphics are fine. the worst thing is the player models, and they aren't too bad.

You complaining about modern games every day is depressing. Is "BendoHendo topic" a thing yet?

I give it an 88 or so. And I agree with all of your criticisms except the last, which is borderline nonsensical since the game made no pretense of being a deep RPG in the first place.

Considering the original Deus Ex had pretty deep RPG mechanics, I'd disagree.

This isn't the original Deus Ex.

The gunplay was what I'd expect. Its better than pretty much every modern shooter out there to me. Not that it was stellar. The main character was definitely boring.

But, you definitely should have played more stealthily. Yes, I'm sure as an action game it comes out as a boring cover based shooter, who plays that anyway. But I always like stealth. Still, the takedown mechanic was just.. terrible on that regard.

It was a decent enough game, just nothing extraordinary. Definitely in the 7/10 range.

I agree, bought it on the Steam sale for $5 and still feel ripped off.

it was about equal with the witcher 1 for me. very good game, kept my interest the whole way. but not quite top tier. i'd give it an 8.5/10

also don't understand your criticisms at all

"main character was a generic dude bro"
how so? i didn't get this vibe at all. if anything he sounded like batman

"story was dull"
i thought it was quite interesting, especially if you took the time to read all the emails and ebooks etc..but this is opinion so whatever

"unsatisfying gunplay"
again opinion, but i thought it was pretty satisfying if you chose to go that route.. though i had more fun being stealthy

"stupid popamole mechanics (hide behind ****, pop out, wait for opponent to pop out, shoot, repeat)"
how else are you supposed to do it? this is pretty realistic imo.. are you supposed to just run out in the open and shoot them? well..actually you can do that if you want. or you could just run past everyone and not fight at all. or you could even rig turrets and machines to take out the enemies. i honestly don't understand this criticism at all.

"rpg mechanics seemed lite"
dialogue and decisions mattered and were interesting, which imo are the most important parts in a game like this. you could tackle any obstacle the way you wanted. again contradicting your previous criticism.
