Is Max Payne 3 worth playing?

#1Lwaxana_TroiPosted 8/3/2013 4:52:37 PM
I loved Max Payne and Max Payne 2. They're two of my favorite games.

I know Max Payne 3 wasn't developed by the same people. I heard they made it into a cover shooter and ditched graphic novels. Both of those things are pretty upsetting. But is it worth playing anyway?

It's okay for a cover shooter.

Writing isn't nearly as good as Max Payne 1 and 2.

Personally I'd recommend waiting til it's under $10 during a Steam sale.

It's definitely worth a play-through. Gunplay is extremely satisfying and brutal, although, I wish there was gore.

Oh, what am I saying; of course you don't.

I wish there was gore.

Not counting the part where you follow a guy that drags himself from an explosion missing limbs and have the option to put him down.?

On it's own, its one of the best TPS released this gen.

It's still got world-weary and cynical Max Payne and his noir monologues. Gunplay is really good to and it's got a nice physics engine.

I thought the gameplay and cutscene transition was awesome, and loved the storyline. Not as heavy as the previous two, but a very good game nonetheless.

There isn't anything like that, outside of setpieces, from what I remember.

You must not be making many headshots. There is plenty slow-mo gore in those.

To answer the TC's question, yes definitely worth playing through. Max's monologue is top notch and so is the gameplay.

I don't wanna be that guy but playing it as a cover shooter is playing it wrong. Cover is just the last resort.

Definitely worth a play through. The game was amazing especially if you are a Max Payne fan.
