Wifi bridge between desktop PC, want to save energy

#1jakeDiLLaPosted 8/3/2013 6:23:59 PM
So I use my laptop as my wifi adapter through a crossover cable because quite frankly, my desktop's wifi adapter sucks.

What I would like to know is, does a possibility exist of putting the laptop in sleep mode and still being able to use the bridge? I hate wasting energy having my laptop just sitting there with the screen off doing nothing but receiving my wifi signal.

I searched but couldn't find an answer. Thanks

I doubt it, for the same reason you can't transfer files in sleep mode. You might want to consider buying a better WiFi adapter for your desktop if you can spend the money for one.

I'm pretty sure only the hard drive is on during sleep mode so I don't think it'll work. I'm not sure how tight money is but you could prob find one for about 20 bucks on newegg. Maybe less on amazon.

Already spent $20 on a crappy usb one since I have an ancient laptop I could use it on. It was the For Sale sign that lured me in.... and the cheapest mini-pci-e one was $30.

And money is tight so I'll just stick with this. Works like a charm anyways.
