So it looks like I'm finally getting around to being a PC gamer, and being a console gamer my whole life I really like the feel of a controller, and I'm totally clumsy with a mouse and keyboard. So far I've only been checking out the games on Steam, and I noticed that a lot of the games there have controller support.
Are these controller supported games used with the Xbox 360 controller? How easy is it to set up?

A lot of games work with a controller as standard these days. No set up required at all.

For those that don't support them, there are programs that help. I haven't really gotten into that scene, so I can't help.

Use any controller you want and no, most games do not require a special program/setup.

Most current games (last few years) just work with you controller of choice out of the box.

I have a PS3, could I use my Dualshock 3 to play games on Steam? I've just heard that Xbox controllers seem to work best on windows computers.

@JonnyZ

Yes you will either need to hardwire it to the computer or buy a Bluetooth adapter and sync it with the computer using motioninjoy

Xbox controllers just have the advantage by auto installing drivers

Yeah you can use the PS3 controller. I used it for quite a while until I got my 360 controller. I used Motioninjoy myself which worked perfectly.

Yeah I know it got ripped apart on NeoGAF but I personally never saw those issues. Do some research TC but I still thought it worked just fine...

I never had issues with motionjoy expect when it caused a BSOD due to a plugin error.
