Gamepad?

Games with controller support built in will recognize an Xbox 360 controller the same way a console game does.

Games without controller support can have it forced upon them by using a helper program like Xpadder (which is $10). There are free Xpadder-like programs, but they all suck compared to the real thing.

Some games, like Torchlight 2, don't support the controller and have an inherently mouse-focused control scheme. These can be played with an Xpadder profile, but you will be making concessions to the game.

Yeah you can use the PS3 controller. I used it for quite a while until I got my 360 controller. I used Motioninjoy myself which worked perfectly.

No, do not use that Chinese Malware Spynet crap!!!!!

This is much better:

Yeah I know it got ripped apart on NeoGAF but I personally never saw those issues. Do some research TC but I still thought it worked just fine...

Works perfectly for me too.

I am 99% sure that Motioninjoy hijacked my browser. I kept getting random pop ups for teaching English in China, and it would randomly come up in IE, even if I wasn't using the browser. I googled it and the only info I found was a few other people using Motioninjoy as well. I use my PS3 controller and Better DS3 Tool. Basically when you use a program, it emulates an Xbox360 controller, and most games now support xbox 360 controllers, no configuration required. The only thing is that you need to initially configure it if you want to use it wirelessly, using drivers and a usb bluetooth adapter.

There are a lot of games that work great with a controller. However, there are many that are just plain better with a m+kb. Shooters are a good example. Not all shooters on the PC have the auto-aim that console shooters use to compensate for the imprecision of a controller. If you play online, you'll notice the difference. It would be worth the time put in to practice using a m+kb.

Try and play an RTS with a controller. Please make a LP of it on Youtube. I will donate to your channel.

Actually there is a diamond ranked starcraft 2 player that uses a controller. So it is actually doable if one were so inclined.

I thought the XB360 version of Battle For Middle Earth 2 handled it about as well as it can be handled with a controller. The PC is still a lot easier to play, but the 360 version is playable.
