Good gaming headphones?

Don't buy a headset. Like the rest said ath m50s or a nice pair of Senheisser HD 558s.

If you're going to buy actual headphones, go to head-fi. There's too much of a newbie cycle here, IMO (newbie gets something that isn't garbage and raves, other newbies get it and rave, meanwhile different/better options get overlooked since they don't have the newbie hype train chugging along).

EDIT: Just noticed someone posted MLE's headphone guide, which is a good place to start.

My Beyerdynamic DT 770s are fantastic for gaming. Get the 80 ohms version as those are easier to drive than the 250 ohms pair.

Agreed. Coupled with an Antlion Modmic, it's better than any "gaming headset" on the market by a long shot.

I use this.

The price has gone down a bit surprisingly. I'm not much of an audiophile but these are pretty solid to me. I've used mine for over a year now without any issues. However, I have heard of them being rather fragile so be careful if you get them. Other than that the mic quality is great, sound is fine, and it is very comfortable.
