Alright again I appreciate everyone's help. If I wanted to spend no more than $1000 on a custom built PC that could handle Civ 5 on max setttings, what would I be looking for. Also I'm not too familiar with all the parts I would need. I know about the Motherboard, CPU, GPU, HDD, PSU, and disc drives but what else is there I need to know? Oh and also I really don't game too much anymore, maybe like 2 hours a week if I can find the time. I just want a computer I can fire up and play a game like Civ 5 or Sim City for a couple hours

You'll need to upgrade the graphics card and power supply of course.

Do you have a monitor already? And you probably don't need to spend more than $600 or so to play Civ 5 and Sim City on high/max settings. Neither of those games are super graphics intensive.

And then upgrade the graphics card to at least a 670 or 770.

ALL OF THIS IS $891 dollars, easily will run Skyrim. Now I haven't chosen your case, because I believe thats what makes the computer yours.

Here is the url for you to choose a case

mm I forgot about the operative system, this could possibly increase your cost to over 1000 dollars (after you add the case of course), so if you don't want to spend a little more, then I would consider decreasing to a GTX 660.

Now I will warn you that buying from Best Buy is very expensive, and if you order your parts online I guarantee that you will save at least 100 dollars.

Did you read what he typed?
" Oh and also I really don't game too much anymore, maybe like 2 hours a week if I can find the time. I just want a computer I can fire up and play a game like Civ 5 or Sim City for a couple hours"

Why are we suggesting a $300 760 for him?

you should definitely build your own, you can build a solid gaming computer for a few hundred dollars, prebuilts are the biggest wastes of money. you'll end up getting inferior parts at a higher cost, and building a computer is so easy, there's only one tedious part and it just takes time more than it is difficult

He said a 1000 dollar budget. So I tried to build him the best computer I could think of without spending over 1000 dollars.

and he said he wanted to run Civ 5 in the highest posible settings, and he wanted to get Skyrim. I know how to read, I don't jump into conclusions without knowing what the problem is.
