I have to say, I'm really not a fan of the aesthetic direction MSI has gone with for the Lightning line. They're so gaudy now. I really miss that slick metallic design they had for the 500 series.

Agree completely.

I got really exited for the new Lightning when I saw these

and then I groaned when I saw this

What would you say would be the real world perfomance difference between a card like the Classified/Lightning vs. a stock 780 at 1080p resolution. Is it really worth it to spend the extra cash for the top of the line card performance wise or will it not make much difference?

I am looking to upgrade to one of these soon as I've got a friend that may buy my 680 reference to SLI his rig. My motherboard doesn't support SLI, so, I figure I will just keep one really powerful card in my setup. Deciding between the 8000 different cards is my problem.

You're looking at the difference between 1250ishMhz vs 1350ishMHz.

That's close to a 10% difference, well worth the extra $50 imo.

Cool. Yeah. I don't mind spending the money if the actual perfomance is worth it.

OK, so it's looking like the Lightning is the best, followed by the Classified (can I get a link for this one please?). Assuming those are hard to come by/out of stock/I don't have enough for those, what's the next best?

I was considering the EVGA 780 SC ACX. What is the opinion on this card vs. the others. It seems to have a low price point for it's performance, and I have heard good things about EVGA. My 680 is an MSI reference and it has performed really good...
