How do I find out what is taking up so much memory, and how do I fix the problem?

I normally use task manager to check which processes are using too much memory.

There are three ways to fix this:
1. Disable necessary background processes
2. Don't run as many apps/tabs simultaneously
3. Buy more RAM (although at 6GB according to samsung's website this shouldn't be an issue, so check that it is the correct size and maybe run memtest)

I just checked the memory Performance Graph on the Task Manager and it states that I'm using 5.5/5.9GB (93%) and I know that's impossible because I don't use this PC for anything but to browse the web. I added up the memory of the programs on the processes tab of the Task bar and it only came to about 500mb. But yet it says 93% memory?
