Monitor died, some advice?

#1SxmfctPosted 8/6/2013 1:13:06 AM
19 inch monitor with DVI port has died, but I have a 22inch RGB monitor

Would it be worth getting an RGB cable for the other monitor or would it be worth investing in a new one?

Is there a major difference in picture quality for example?

All you care about is sorting out a new monitor or what have you. At least bury the old one for god's sake! You sick, sick bastard.

That is all.

Oh I'll be giving it a proper burial. I'm trying to organise a world-wide minute silence in commemoration

It was given to me with no cable. Maybe VGA is what it's called in your region? It definitely says "RGB in" on the back of it though

I was thinking an adapter, are they any good? I've had bad experiences with stuff like that in the past. Grainy pictures and the like

Yup.... >_>

So it is VGA then? Why does it say RGB on the monitor? I thought they were two different things

Regardless I just ordered a DVI - RGB/VGA cable

Ok so after checking again, the cable I ordered is wrong. Do I need male-female or what? I wasn't even aware cables had genders

This is what the cable-less monitor has as an input (It says "RGB in" below the port)

this is the cable that I have. Both ends are the same and my graphics card only has that and a HD output, no VGA/RGB or whatever

A link to the cable/adapter I'd need would be great. I'm no good with this stuff and money's really tight right now so a new monitor is off the agenda

That looks like a DVI cable you have. Get a DVI > VGA adapter. One should have been included with your GPU tbh

EDIT: Something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cabling4Less-DVI-VGA-HD15-Adaptor/dp/B000FII810/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375900822&sr=8-1&keywords=dvi+to+vga
