NC ip address in gmail activity log?

#1CammyApplePosted 8/6/2013 1:16:33 AM
Im in NY. I just checked my gmail activity log. The ip addresses all matched up, except one. On the same day my gmail was accessed from both NY and an NC ip from what appears to be the same phone.

I'm guessing it's my phone as it's the same aguid in every entry.

Any idea why it would have had a NC ip address that one time?

Seriously? You actually check IP logs in Gmail?

I live in MN but whenever my phone checks gmail it says TX. I wouldn't worry about it.

No need to look them up, it displays their location in the log. Of course I look into things that seem "out of the ordinary".

If you're that worried about it, set up two-factor authentication and change your password monthly. Otherwise... don't worry about it.

Most likely it just has something to do with what point the cellular traffic is connected to the actual Internet and becomes Internet traffic. That one time, it might have just been routed to NY/NC.
