Just because you like a company and enjoy their services, does not mean you "kiss their ass". I like their prices, their installed drm is actually a very efficient way of categorizing my games. I have never had an issue with them at all and they are currently the best deal in gaming imo. I bought l4d 1 and 2 for like $5 and still haven't played either one of them, lol.

Being pissed because you were too impatient to wait for a sale and dealt with retail prices at launch? Who's fault is that but your own. Valve is a game company. They release games to make money... and do a pretty damn good job of it looking at the numbers...haters gonna hate.

Releasing two games in a short timeframe isn't screwing over gamers. It's releasing two games in a short timeframe.
Actively campaigning for higher prices, more invasive DRM, and essentially treating gamers like trash is.

I've already got my college credits for English 2. I don't need to be an English Nazi anymore.

If you think that's what people are pissed at, you have no idea what the conversation is about.

So it's cool to hate Valve nowadays?

Seems that way. I don't give a damn about being cool. I'm 32 and I have a family. Valve is also part of that family.

Valve isn't perfect... No large corporation is perfect... In fact, I feel like the 'bigger' you get, the worse you get, though Valve seems to be delaying this by not being publicly traded on the stock market.

However, on the scale of "Makes me mad" Valve is pretty low....like a 3 at most. I'm not a big fan of Zombie games in the first place, but I guess if I had just bought L4D hoping that it would turn out like TF2 (updated and new content added to it for many years), then I'd feel betrayed by L4D2... The truth is though, I don't really care about that.

EA however has done plenty to make me mad: (Long list redacted because nobody would read a 4000 character essay on why EA sucks)

Virtually everything wrong with EA is related to being traded on the stock market and having to worry about the stock price. If EA was still privately owned it would be possible to do things without worrying about the impact on the stock price.

It's easier to just buy the games/products you like and use the products/services you like/put up with than try to make some sort of loyalty/association to companies that don't give a s*** about you.

There are things about Valve/Steam that I like and things that I don't. I can put up with the negatives to continue to use the service.
There's stuff about EA that I don't like, but they still release games that I'm interested in. I'm not going to deprive myself of something that I want because some game company doesn't care about me and what's "good for gamers." That's a dumb way of thinking. None of these companies care about you.
