hooked pc to hdtv

#1GravyButtPosted 8/6/2013 1:39:02 PM
Finally got around to trying to hook up my pc to my 47" vizio hdtv. Why oh why did I not think of doing this earlier?! Holy smokes does it look good, heck, even web browsing looks good. Im was expecting all the text to be blurry ect ect,but nope, looks just like im using my 27" monitor. Very impressed. I tested out skyrim and far cry 3 on it, Made me very very happy.

My question is though, how well does it compare with a monitor as far as lag goes? Will I notice a big difference when playing online shooters? Thats my fear, that Ill be quite a few steps behind when playing games like bf3 (which I havent had time to test yet) online.

Thanks!

Depends on the TV.

Turn on game mode on your TV. That way it bypasses the tv's image enhancement processing.

After i turned it on I noticed a huge difference in my skill level playing Super Meat Boy and Binding of Isaac. For other games that don't involve fast reflexes, you probably wont notice.

On my Samsung, there is an actual "Game Mode" setting and it remembers which HDMI input has it turned on. So whenever I switch to my PC it actually says "Game Mode" on the HUD right under the resolution for a few seconds. When I switch to my satellite receiver, it goes off again.

The only thing that sucks about it and I believe is super rare is the fact that sometimes the audio cuts off for a split second or two.

It has something to do with the "handshake" between the HDTV and HDMI, I am one of the unlucky people that has that problem. I tried everything, but still no fix :/

It probably has something to do with my GPU, since it goes like this...

TV>HDMI>Radeon card>PC

You could always output your audio as a second signal, like I do. I send my PC's audio to some studio monitors via a regular audio jack.
