Thoughts on MSi computers?

#11technofoPosted 8/6/2013 10:38:04 PM
i have a MSI netbook 5 years old already, never had issues.

I think they make budget products but higher quality than the budget laptops of big companies. My sisters HP netbook died after 2 years (WTF). I had a friend in college who ended up selling his dell netbook and buying a laptop because he had issues with it. My personal experience though.

That laptop is nice looking and probably has some decent components, trouble is that often when developers make laptops, they will try to cut corners to keep certain costs down. MSI probably makes their laptops like that, unfortunately.

I had a REALLY bad experience with an MSI motherboard about 13 years ago, I vowed to never purchase anything from them ever again.

I have an MSI GT275 laptop.

3 years in, the battery life went to like half an hour. Not that it was good to begin with, but basically unusable without a charger. It played games well and even handles BF3 at 720P, but the large size made it stick out like a sore thumb in class and the heat wasn't any better. Now the GPU is broken and frequently crashes/causes a BSOD. I still use it plenty, but recognize the folly of spending a lot of money on a gaming laptop vs. a cheap laptop and good desktop.

So, just the charging port is the issue at this point?

Fix it one last time and see about getting the accent lights working again, then sell the sucker.

That thing would be a money magnet on something like craigslist or kijiji.
