So I plan to get my first Laptop soon, and I would like one that can handle games with at least average settings.

A friend of mine recommend me this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314017

But I would like to find one that isn't as expensive.

Please don't be rude, it's my first time on this board and I don't have much experience with computers.

You can get a Lenovo Y500, Y410p, or Y510p which cost about the same but provide much better gaming performance.

That is a piss poor version. If i were you, do not get that man.

Look at some others in that range. The one you put is fine.

You need to spend at least $1000.00 US to get something that will run games on medium settings for the next 2-3 years. You can go cheaper but you will drastically reduce the life of the laptop being able to play games. Case in Point. In Aug of 2011 i paid $1200.00 for an ASUS G75 (i7, 1 tb Hdd, 8 GB Ram, Blue-Ray drive,Nvidia 570m GPU) on sale from $1400.00. Today it is pretty much a paper weight when it comes to gaming. It's pretty much useless unless I want to play new games at console settings. There's nothing wrong with gaming laptops as long as you know ahead of time they cost 2-3 times what an equivalent desktop would cost and last half as long.

Basically the rule of thumb for gaming laptops is $1000.00 minimum and that will last you 1-3 years (at best). Every $400 on top of that buys you another year.
Gamefaqs game rating system : 10 = Best Game Ever. 8-9. Crushing dissapointment. Below 8 :Total Garbage. This is getting ridiculous. people agreeing so far 104
