So I set my laptop and my desktop to the same graphics level, minus resolution as the laptop is 1920 x 1080 (was hooked up to TV at the time) and the desktop is using an old CRT with 1280 x 1024.

My laptop is a g74sx which has a 560m and an i7 @ 2.8ghz each. And for the test I gave it a pretty significant overclock to the GPU which gave it about 5fps better.

It's pretty pathetic....

So for the fun of it, I tried my old desktop.
It's got a 9600gt 512mb and an old AMD 4800 (Dual 2.4gz)
It's also full of dust, and idles at 50c on the CPU, 60C on the GPU.

It net framerates nearly twice as fast.

I am confused, how is this possible? Can someone confirm these, is my laptop running like crap or is my desktop running way to damn good?

Could it be drivers? Laptop has the 320 and desktop has the 314.

You probably can get more FPS if you remove the hair.

This is my benchmark on a GTX 780. Running at 2560x1440, all settings set to max (including tressfx) but no Anti aliasing (I find I don't need it on Tomb Raider with the resolution).

Is that enough to make a difference with such an overwhelming power difference in favor of the 560m?

I'll rerun the test tonight and rout the desktop into the hdtv, but I suspect the 9600 will still be faster.
