I'm not sure what parts work well together or what the parts will be capable of in the future. I'm not trying to future proof this pc. I just want a strong desktop to run games with a bang for buck kinda deal. i'll worry about assembling later. No more than $1000.

Don't include power supply and hard drive. I already have an 800 watt power supply and 1 teraB hard drive.

That should be everything you need. I didn't include a mouse or keyboard since that's pretty personal and I you can change the case that's just a highly recommended one.

Just wondering, if the new standard for video game consoles will be 8gigs of ram, wouldn't it be better to go for 16gigs?

Trust me you'll be fine with 8GBs. 8GBs is really high and you'll probably never get close to using all of it [never]. I use a lot of high quality memory hogging+ CPU banks and music programs. I'm usually only using around 3GBs-7GBs. That's only for songs with a ton of FX and tracks as well. Normally it's only 3GBs-4GBs. So I know for a fact you won't be using anywhere close to 8GBs unless you will be using some programs that will rely on RAM.

Not in until a few years, and then after than you can buy another 8gb of RAM when its cheaper.
