Question about two mobile GPU's

#1ThePCElitistPosted 8/16/2013 2:21:26 PM
A friend is looking into some laptops and is wondering if the gt650m is worth paying $100 more for over an HD 7730m GPU? I looked up benchmarks and there's around a 20% difference in performance at high details and resolutions.

Is a 20% worth $100 is what I'm asking.

Why is he getting a laptop? You're failing as an elitist.

ADD, no. Where is the thread for Fallout OCD players?

personally? no.

I have an A10(@2.3) HD7600M & HD 7670M 8 gb ram.

runs everything I throw at it fine tbh, all at playable settings (medium or lower/higher dependant on the game ofc)

what are the exact specs for it?

I dunno but I'm not going to hound them to get a desktop PC if they want a laptop instead.

The one with the HD 7730m 2 GB Gddr5 has an i7-3630, 8 GB ram, 1 TB hard drive in it. From what I can tell the other laptop has the same specs except its a 650m instead.

So you know how much it costs, and approximately how much of a difference in performance. Why are you asking US if it's worth it? Why not tell your friend he can get about 20% better performance in games for an additional $100, then ask him if it's worth it TO HIM?

then I would say it is a win-win regardless (IMO) either get the better gpu for more, or stick with a decent gpu and pay no extra. obviously it is upto him in the end.
